Grammy winner and “Horowitz of jazz piano” Marian Petrescu, who has performed with jazz legends such as Arturo Sandoval, Tony Williams, Toots Thielemans and Al Jarreau, is one of the world’s elite piano virtuosos and has assembled a new trio and is now heading to the stage.
The programme includes material performed by Petrescu’s role models such as Oscar Peterson and Art Tatum. The breathtaking piano work is accompanied by the accompaniment pair Joonas Tuuri and Ville Luukkonen, who are familiar from many Finnish jazz bands. Known in recent years for their collaboration with Antti Sarpila and Olli Soikkeli, among others, Marian’s unbridled energy is best seen in a trio formation, where she can express herself to the full extent of her capacity – supported by the rhythm section with sophistication.
