Kuopion jazz & blues ry’s jazz nights at Teerenpeli’s cellar are back from their summer break!
Starting off the autumn season is PIIP, a jazz quartet that performs compositions inspired by nature. Laura Helander’s compositions deal with climate anxiety, sorrow caused by biodiversity loss, and love for nature. The band’s instrumental music draws influences from prog and Finnish folk music.
The band’s keyboardist-vibraphonist, Mikko Antila, is known from bands such as Peela and Maan Tila. Tatu Back plays bass for Erja Lyytinen and composes music for his own band Tatu ja Tutkimusmatkailijat. Benjamin Nylund plays in bands like Ida Alanen’s and Sami Jaakkola’s. Laura Helander is the band’s composer and saxophonist and is a member of the Finnish soul band Maagine. Helander has worked as a freelance musician for a long time and has composed commissioned pieces for groups like the Jyväskylä Big Band.
Showtime is at 7:00 PM.
Tickets are 20€ / 15€ for Kuopion jazz & blues ry members and students.
Tickets are purchased on the evening of the event at Teerenpeli’s cellar.
